On Wednesday 14 March the Year 6 class was treated to a Fun Day at the Guildford Spectrum. They had fun in the pool and a great time in the bowling alley. A lovely way to spend the day after the exams.
The year 1 class had to design a plant for their Science homework. what a lovely garden of plants they made.
Year 4 was visited by Chertsey Museum and the class had a fun session learning about the Tudors.
On Friday 2nd March the school celebrated World Book Day with the children dressing up as book characters. There were a stunning array of characters and the children had a really enjoyable day.
Chertsey museum paid the Year 2 class a visit to talk about the Seaside during bygone days. Everyone had a thoroughly good time and enjoyed Punch and Judy.
On Tuesday 20 February, the Year 6 class went on a trip to Gunnersbury Park to experience what it was like in a Victorian school. They were very happy to return to westward.
On Monday 19 February the school had a visitor from the RNLI to tell us all about their work.
The annual Inter House was held on Wednesday 7 February . The eventual victors were St. David.
The school sent two teams to the London South I.S.A Hockey Tournament. The 'A' team did really well and were eventual winners! Well done to both teams.
The Year 6 class had a fun trip to Pizza Express and made their own lunch.
The Year 1 & 2 classes spent a very enjoyable day at the Haslemere Museum
On Thursday 25 January the Year 5 class took part in the annual Reeds Launch Car Challenge
On a very wet Wednesday 24 January, the Year 3 & 4 classes went on a trip to the Roald Dahl Museum. A fun day was had by all.
The Year 5 class led the annual Christmas service. Reception were excellent at creating the Nativity and the rest of the school all participated to make it a wonderful afternoon celebrating the spirit of Christmas.
After 32 years at Westward, Mrs James was bid farewell at a 'secret' tea by the school at St Andrew's Hall. A sad, but happy occasion.
The year 3 & 4 classes entertained the parents with a superb afternoon on the stage.
The Year 5 & 6 classes entertained the residents of Adelaide House with a medley of Christmas carols.
Year 1 & 2 took part in the traditional Nativity play on Tuesday 5 December and thrilled their parents with their performance.
Westward competed in the ISA 5-a-side Football Tournament and came away as Champions. Well done boys!
The Year 6 class had to design and launch their rockets. They had to try and send it the furthest.
The Year 5 class are learning about the brain. Their mantra at the moment is, 'My brain is like a muscle that grows.'
The Year 6 class led the schools' Remembrance Assembly. The event was very moving and poignant.
The Year 6's were asked to see who could create the most thrust to launch he rocket.
The Year 6 class went to the Chertsey Museum to do a workshop on World War 2.
Year 3 were asked to make something depicting either the ancient Greeks or Romans
The Year 1's made different items depicting Harvest. Aren't they wonderful?
The Year 5 & 6's had a trip to Wagamama to see what they do. A great time was had by all.
Year 4 led the Harvest Assembly. All donations were given to the Walton & Hersham Food Bank
The Year 3's spent the day at Fishbourne learning about the Romans.
Elmbridge Rentstart comes to Westward
Thank you to everyone in the Westward community. Our coffee morning, cake sale and mufti day raised an amazing £530.40. Congratulations to Mrs Werenne who guessed the correct height of the cake tower.
Ashwyn and Rohan became the first pupils to represent Westward at an ISA Sailing event. Both performed extremely well with Ashwyn winning his wave and 'The Regatta Cup'. Read the full report in the news section.
Rob Lloyd Jones shared his latest novel 'Jake Atlas and the Tomb of the Emerald Snake'. He told the Upper School pupils about how he became a writer and gave Year 5 and 6 lots of great story writing tips in the workshop sessions.
Year 6 developed their knowledge about World War 2 during their Chertsey Museum workshop.
Year 3 launch their new topic 'The Great, The Brave and The Bold'. They constructed 3D models based on Ancient Greek and Roman architecture.
Year 6 carried out a thrust experiment as part of their 'Forces' science topic.
Year 6 shared their campaign speeches in assembly on Friday 15th September followed by the Upper School pupils casting their votes to decide the posts of responsibility for the 2017/18 academic year. Everyone in the school learnt about the importance of democracy.
Year 5 took in the sights and sounds of the River Thames during their cruise from Walton Bridge on Thursday 14th September. A super start to our 'Rivers' topic.
The Year 5 and 6 football teams had a busy morning of football with the Year 6 team placing joint third in their section.
Year 4 and 5 enjoyed their first athletics session at the newly completed and very impressive Elmbridge Sports Hub.
